Firm Leadership
Russell L. Romanelli, CPA, Managing Partner
Russ Romanelli is a partner in the Tax Services Department at Wolf & Company LLP and currently the Managing Partner of the Wolf Financial Group. Russ also chairs the firm's Executive Committee, the managing body of Wolf & Company LLP. Russ received both his Master of Science Degree in Taxation and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from DePaul University.
Russ has extensive experience in taxation, financial planning and management areas. His areas of expertise include corporate and individual taxation, ESOP’s, inventory taxation, accounting methods, entity structure and reorganization, trust and estate taxation, employee benefit plans, retirement planning, planning for acquisitions and divestitures, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service, and state and local authorities on income tax, sales and use tax. Russ has demonstrated superior client service skills during his career and is considered a Trusted Advisor to his clients.
He has made presentations to organizations throughout the area and written numerous articles on corporate and individual tax planning and on various family business planning. Russ is in charge of our Family Business Forum, a quarterly seminar series made available to our closely held and family owned clients. The Family Business Forum presents meaningful presentations to this distinct clientele. Topics range from Business Succession Planning to Writing a Business Plan, to Managing Internal Conflict among Family Members.
Russ is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, DuPage Estate Planning Council, The ESOP Association, and The Columbian Club of Chicago where he is a past president.
David R. Siehoff, CPA, CFE Partner-in-Charge, Audit and Accounting Services
Dave Siehoff is the current head of the audit division for Wolf & Company. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, the managing body of Wolf & Company LLP. Dave has 30 years of experience in public accounting and has been a partner at Wolf since 1991. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dave is the partner responsible for Wolf & Company's technical compliance review and oversees the firm's adherence to our systems of quality control. In addition to providing traditional audit, accounting and tax services to his clients, Dave acts as a business advisor and consultant focusing on profit improvement issues, internal controls, operational efficiency, compliance with federal and state regulations, staffing issues and, most importantly, interpreting and reacting to the information available from an organization's financial statements.
Dave has spoken on accounting and audit subjects and other related topics to numerous professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, Association of Fraud Examiners and Association Forum. He has also served on the Illinois CPA Society's Not-For-Profit, Auditing Procedures, and Accounting and Review Services Committees and on the Boards of the Oak Brook Association of Commerce and Industry, Juna Amagara Ministries, and First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn.
Steve Lutz is the partner-in-charge of the Small and Emerging Business Services Department, as well as the Healthcare Services Group, at Wolf & Company LLP. Steve is also Chief Financial Officer of Wolf Financial Group. He is a partner in the firm’s Audit and Accounting Services Department and member of its Executive Committee. Steve received his Bachelor of Science degree from Elmhurst College in 1976, joined Wolf & Company upon his graduation, and became a partner of the firm in 1984.
As the head of the firm’s Small and Emerging Business Services Department, Steve leads a team of professionals who provide outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services, compiled financial statements and accounting software training and installation to small and/or start-up closely held businesses.
Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, Medical Group Management Association and the Physicians and Managed Care Subcommittees of the Illinois CPA Society Health Care Committee. He is also an active member of the Chicago Health Executives Forum and serves as an advisor on numerous group Boards of Directors. Steve serves as a member of the Healthcare Committee for PKF North American Network.
Steve has made numerous presentations on a wide variety of topics, including personal and corporate income tax, electronic medical records, compensation models, and optimal retirement planning. He is the editor of Wolf's Healthcare Quarterly and has authored articles of interest to the small business and healthcare communities in numerous publications.
Philip C. Czajkowski, CPA, Partner-in-Charge, Tax Services
Phil Czajkowski joined Wolf & Company in 1976 and became a partner of the firm in 1985. He is the head of the firm’s Tax Services Department and also a member of the firm's Executive Committee, the managing body of Wolf & Company LLP. Phil has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science degree in Taxation from DePaul University
Phil’s expertise includes providing individual, corporate and estate tax planning for closely held businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations. He advises clients on business start-ups, tax entity utilization and reorganizations. Phil also has significant experience in international taxation, as well as in the not-for-profit tax area, including structuring exempt entities, unrelated business taxable income issues, and preserving exempt status. Additionally, he has extensive experience in representation of buyers and sellers in business acquisition negotiations, the provision of expert witness testimony, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service on income tax, estate tax and valuation matters. Phil’s business valuation experience includes preparation of valuation opinions, consultation regarding valuation issues in the context of shareholder agreements or disputes, ESOPs and divorce, and provision of expert opinions and representation before the Internal Revenue Service.
Industries served include manufacturing, distribution, publishing, TV and radio stations, business and professional services, and hotels. Phil also provides tax planning and compliance to business owners, executives and professionals.
Phil is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society and has served as a member of various Illinois CPA Society tax committees. He is also a member and past president of the DuPage County Estate Planning Council, and member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council and Institute of Business Appraisers.
He has made numerous presentations at seminars and continuing education programs and authored articles that have appeared in business and technical journals on individual and corporate income tax planning, executive compensation and benefits planning, estate planning and business succession planning. Phil has served as an instructor of professional education courses for the Illinois CPA Society, Chicago Board of Realtors Real Estate School and the DuPage County Bar Association.
